The ins-and-outs of Event Communication

Zeitgeist Communication provides event communication for one of the largest summer events in Cumbria - with more than 10,000 attendees. As part of this, our team works on pre-event communication, on-stage communication and post event comms., including PR, the development of event apps, social media marketing, creation of printed collateral, speech writing and scripts.

The process of agreeing and compiling communications material for an event can be time-consuming, challenging in terms of deadlines and, at times, slightly stressful. At the same time, seeing the event come together is extremely rewarding. Key throughout is the close collaboration with our clients – keeping them updated, ensuring they are on board with all content and keeping them prompted for sign-off on the various pieces of communication.

As our team provides communications support during the event, weeks can get incredibly busy with day-to-day press updates, photography, press conferences, scripts for speakers and animated presentations for announcements on stage. We work closely with our clients to make sure that the vast amount of communication does not turn into a heap of information, but rather creates engagement and response from participants. It can be tricky to make notices about parking sound interesting and to keep people’s attention, but we work hard at finding ways to keep announcements targeted and short and sweet. Good notices are an art in themselves and we are thankful for the various design, print, video and tech partners we work with to make an event come alive.
