Sourcing local talent when setting up a marketing or comms agency
When embarking on our new business, we decided to ensure that we support local business by sourcing local creative talent. It took some time to find all the right people, but we are really pleased to have found partners who demonstrate professionalism and creativity right here in the heart of Cumbria.
As you set up business, you will need to identify partners who can help you deliver your final product or service. Clearly, some of these will be based further afield. At the same time, however, it is key that you look right where you are. Why? Firstly, it supports the local economy. Secondly, you are likely to be working with freelancers or small businesses who love what they do and will prove excellent partners going forward. Thirdly, partnering with them doubles your and their promotional footprint.
If you are looking to set up a marketing or communications agency make sure to research the local market, not just for potential customers, but for those who will be able to meet your supply chain challenges and possibly introduce you to others locally. It might take some time, but it is worth the effort.

Oh, and before I forget, working with people locally makes business so much more fun and flexible. While technology certainly makes long-distance collaboration very feasible, there is nothing better than meeting face-to-face and working on things together, in one room.
